Shampoo

Every hair care regimen starts with shampoo. Regardless of what other hair products you use, everyone uses shampoo. But there are so many on the market, how do you choose the right one for you?

The primary function is, of course, to clean the hair. All shampoos contain some type of soap or detergent to remove dirt and excess oil from the hair. However, a little oil is actually good for your tresses. Washing your hair every day is not necessary unless your hair is extremely oily. Every other day is usually sufficient, or even less, depending on your hair.

Many shampoos boast other benefits, as well. For example, some are designed to moisturize dry hair. Clarifying shampoo reduces build-up from the various hair products we use. Volumizing shampoo adds body and bounce to a limp mane. Most shampoos make is easy for you with user-friendly labels that designate which type of hair it is appropriate for--dry, oily, color-treated, or all hair types.

The majority of mass-produced shampoos contain chemical detergents or fragrance. Organic shampoos, on the other hand, shun chemicals and instead use only natural ingredients. These may be more expensive, but many people don't mind paying extra to protect their valued locks--and the environment.
