Hair Loss Treatment

Types of Hair Loss Treatments
There are many types of hair loss treatments--mainly medical and surgical. Surgical treatments include hair transplant surgery, which is a type of follicular-unit micrografting, touch-ups, or hairline softening, and "plug type" transplants from a physician. Medical treatments include Propecia and Rogaine, both FDA approved.

Hair transplant surgery is the only way to restore living hair and this requires carefully place micrografts. The ideal surgery is using large sessions of small grafts. This means that fewer sessions are required to restore hair and the hair looks natural; it does not look obvious that hair is "plugged." This type of surgery also allows you to heal faster, so it is less intrusive in your life.

Hair transplantation is a very safe surgical procedure involving removing a strip of permanent hair-bearing skin from the back or sides of the scalp. The strip is then carefully dissected into micrografts (containing as little as a single hair). The donor area is hidden by the surrounding hair.

The micrografts are carefully planted into the bald or thinning area of the scalp. The creation of very small micrografts has allowed very natural, feathered hairlines, unlike the "pluggy look" that is so often seen. These are all types of hair loss treatments, and this is just one.
