DHT Hair Loss
|
The Culprit
The most common reason for hair
loss comes from a chemical called DHT. DHT keeps the follicle in its
inactive stage of growth. DHT causes the hair to stop growing and
eventually fall out. Hair naturally falls out after six years
naturally--but when DHT is present, it doesn't grow back.
DHT, dihydrotestosterone, is
testosterone mixed with 5 Alpha Reductase and Androgen, a normal hormone
found in the scalp. When DHT is present at the root, it cuts off the
blood flow to the follicle and the hair does not regrow, eventually
falling out. DHT hair loss is a product of keeping the follicle in the
inactive stage of growth.
DHT is present in both men and
women, and DHT causes hair loss in both. Although it is more common in
men because of their higher levels of testosterone, many women still are
afflicted with the hair loss. In women, high levels of DHT can produce
thinning hair on their scalp and thicker hair on their face.
DHT Hair loss can be combatted
with a DHT blocker, which slows the amount of DHT to the follicle. Less
DHT at the root of the hair produces a healthier follicle able to
sustain its normal growth pattern. This means that you no longer have to
fear DHT-induced hair loss.
